Hyrox and Functional Fitness in Manila

There is no confirmed Philippine race yet, so the smart move is to start training now at an official club near you.

The fastest growing fitness format in the world is a race you can practise for on a normal Tuesday night in BGC. Hyrox is a standardised fitness race that pairs endurance with strength, and the same eight rounds run in Singapore, London and Cape Town will one day run here. The signals are clear. The question for Manila residents is not whether to wait for a race date. It is where to start building the engine now.

What Hyrox actually is

Hyrox is a fitness race that alternates eight runs of one kilometre each with eight functional stations. The format never changes. You run a kilometre, then you do a station, then you run another kilometre, then the next station, and so on until all eight runs and all eight stations are done. The stations are the same everywhere in the world: a sled push, a sled pull, a burpee broad jump, a row on an indoor rower, a carry with two kettlebells (called a farmers carry), a set of lunges holding a sandbag, and a finish of one hundred wall balls, where you squat and throw a weighted ball to a target above you. There is also a SkiErg, a machine that mimics the upper body pull of cross country skiing.

The genius of the format is that it is the same for everyone, everywhere. A time you post in Manila means exactly what it means in Berlin. That standardisation is why people get hooked. You are not chasing a personal best on one gym's odd setup. You are chasing a global number.

You do not need to be a runner or a lifter to start. You need to be able to keep moving while tired, which is a skill almost anyone can build with a few months of honest training.

Is there a Hyrox race in the Philippines yet?

Let us be straight with you. There is no confirmed Hyrox race in the Philippines as of now. Anyone selling you a 2026 ticket is ahead of the official calendar.

What is real is the build up. The @hyroxphi account has been active since 2024, official Hyrox Training Clubs are already operating across the metro, and gyms have spent serious money on race specific equipment. Put those signals together and a Manila debut around 2027 looks likely, though nothing is locked. We will update this guide the moment a date is confirmed.

So the move is simple. Train now at an official club. When the race lands, you want to arrive already fit, already familiar with the stations, already part of a room that trains together. The people who start in 2026 will be the ones smiling at the start line.

Where to train

These are official Hyrox Training Clubs and serious functional gyms across Metro Manila. Most cluster in BGC, Makati and Taguig, which is good news if you are working in or near the central business districts.

Pretty Huge in BGC is a 2,300 square metre multi sport facility that opened a dedicated Hyrox training area in May 2026, with a SkiErg, sleds, a turf track and a 100 metre indoor running track. Hyrox classes are free for members, and the schedule runs Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm and Saturday at 9am. There is a trial code, HYROXREADY, and you can follow them on Instagram.

AthLife Performance is an official Hyrox Training Club on Level 19 of the A.T. Yuchengco Centre in BGC. Classes are coach led and follow race specific formats. A drop in session is ₱5,000, a four session bundle is ₱16,999, and members get 10 percent off.

Fitness First is the big chain route, accredited as an official Hyrox Training Club. Hyrox classes run at the premium Platinum branches, including One Bonifacio High Street in BGC, Ayala Avenue in Makati, Greenhills and Alabang. Book through the Fitness First Asia app.

Gold's Gym x Metcon is a 750 square metre co branded Hyrox training club at Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill, Taguig. It has a recovery suite with ice baths and saunas, which your legs will thank you for after sled day.

LOKAL ACTIVE is an official Hyrox Training Club on Quezon Avenue in Quezon City. It has been running since 2018 and is often recommended for beginners, so it is a good first door to knock on. You can also follow them on Instagram.

Awaken is a functional fitness gym at Metrowalk in Pasig, founded by coach Culver Padilla. A solid option if you are on the Pasig side and want coaching that knows the functional space well.

If you would rather do CrossFit

CrossFit and Hyrox share a lot of DNA. Both build the kind of all round fitness, mixing strength and conditioning, that carries straight into a race. If you already love a box, you are already most of the way there. Worth knowing across the metro:

Primal Ape CrossFit in Legazpi Village, Makati, with over 1,200 square metres of Rogue equipment. CrossFit Salcedo in Salcedo Village, Makati. Central Ground CrossFit at Bonifacio High Street in BGC. TLC CrossFit at Uptown BGC. CrossFit MNL, which has the widest footprint of all, with branches across BGC, Makati, Alabang, Eastwood, Kapitolyo and San Juan. CrossFit Ethos in Mandaluyong, the closest box to Rockwell and Makati.

How to actually start

Pick the club nearest to where you live or work, because the gym you can reach without a fight through traffic is the gym you will keep going to. Book a trial or a first class. Tell the coach you want to train for Hyrox so they can point you at the right format from day one.

A sensible first month is two to three sessions a week. Build a base of easy running, learn the stations slowly with light weight, and let your body adapt before you chase times. Hyrox rewards patience. The people who burn out are the ones who treat week one like race day.

Good to know

Manila heat and humidity are real factors. Indoor facilities with proper air conditioning, like the ones above, make a big difference to how you recover and how often you show up. Most central clubs sit a short drive from BGC, Makati or Ortigas, so you can often fit a session around the working day if you dodge the worst of the evening rush. Confirm current rates and class times directly with each club before you go, since schedules shift. Start now, and you will be ready long before the start line arrives.
