Hanbok, Reborn as Art
Presented by Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines with the Savina Museum of Contemporary Art
- When
- 10 July to 26 September 2026, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Saturday
- Where
- Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, 59 Bayani Road, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City 1201
- Who it's for
- An hour between errands in BGC
- Good to know
- The centre closes at 4:00 PM, which is earlier than most museums, so a post work visit will not work. Bayani Road is a short ride from BGC proper but sits inside the Fort area, and there is a security check on entry, so bring an ID. Fridays have a corner where visitors can try a hanbok on, and there is an interactive kit for making a miniature version to take home. Groups can request a free guided tour in advance by email.
About this event
Eighteen Korean artists take the hanbok apart and rebuild it as painting, sculpture, video and installation, so the garment becomes a surface for arguing about inheritance rather than a costume. The show has already travelled to China, Kazakhstan and Nigeria and goes to Malaysia next, which makes Taguig its only Philippine stop. Entry is free and the space is small enough to see properly in an hour.
