About this event

The mantón de Manila, the embroidered silk shawl that travelled the Manila-Acapulco galleon route between Chinese workshops, old Manila and Spain, anchors this exhibition at the Ayala Museum. More than 38 pieces from the collection of Verónica Durán Castello are on view, from rare nineteenth-century examples to modern iterations, each tracing the trade and cultural exchange woven into a single object. The run was extended by popular demand and closes on 14 June, so plan a Makati visit before then. Worth crossing town for anyone interested in textile history and the Hispanic-Asian threads that shaped the city, and an easy pairing with lunch in Greenbelt.
